orizuru

The term orizuru means "paper crane". It is the most iconic figure in Japanese origami. This bird folding is a symbol of peace, longevity, and happiness in Japan. The tradition of senbazuru involves folding a thousand cranes (1000 orizuru) in the hope of having a wish granted, often associated with healing or a long life.
